More Awesome News On US Airways Mastercard

The other week, I posted about unexpected news US Airways Mastercard. There was one outstanding question left about the card: I didn’t have complete details regarding the anniversary miles because they were keeping track of the conversations for customer service.

Today, I have 2 pieces of awesome news:

  • They are matching the current public offer of 50,000 miles
  • The caveat, which isn’t a big deal, is the $89 annual posted on my account, I need to pay for it, call them back and they’ll deposit the 10,000 miles into my account
  • It is confirmed, the 10,000 anniversary miles are annual and not the first year

Now check this out, the graphic I have above was two weeks ago. When they launched the 50,000 mile offer you will see new benefits:

US Airways

It says:

Coming in second quarter 2015, you’ll also enjoy these benefits:*

  • $100 flight discount on your account anniversary each year with at least $30,000 in annual purchases
  • 10% of your redeemed miles back (10,000 miles maximum per year)

Emphasis mine. Therefore, if you have 10,000 mile anniversary bonus you will ALSO get 10% of your miles redeemed. Isn’t that awesome? Hopefully, your interpretation is the same as mine.

Also, be sure to post on Doctor Of Credit’s post if you are able to get a match. I still need to add my experience with Barclay’s.

  • Wait, is the 10K anniversary bonus for everyone? or just people who signed up through the linked for “Preferred” Us Airways members?

    • Only if you applied for an offer with the anniversary miles. Preferred offer was not the only offer with that perk.

      • I applied to the “Preferred” offer on 11/16 and apparently they’re extending the offer to the new 50k sign up offer and somehow I will be getting 10k anniversary miles every year

  • on this card will you receive the bonus miles if only an authorized user makes a purchase and not the primary card holder? Also we just got this card with the 40000 miles. Can we call and ask for the 50000 miles?

    • It doesn’t hurt to ask, and yes, most likely they’ll give you the extra 10K. It shouldn’t matter whether it’s you or the authorized user who makes the purchase (if you want to be safe, you can always buy a pack of gum at the local chain drugstore).

  • What about current holders of this card? Could they apply again and get approved for a 2nd one?
My personal experience with Barclays say NO WAY – they have been very stingy in approval of ANY card – I am current holder of Miles&More and USAir.

    • That’s a good question that I don’t know, someone who has done AAoR with Barclay’s would know. Perhaps a post in the Forum for a better answer?

  • Thanks for linking our bonus-match post. We’re hoping to hear more data-points from readers about what worked and what didn’t.

  • Is there a business version of the US Airways card?
