New US Bank Cash+ Categories

As mentioned in other posts the Chase Freedom has rotating quarterly promotions, US Bank’s Cash+ has the same. That is where the similarities stop.

US Bank’s Cash+ allows the customers to choose two 5% cash back categories and one 2% category. They just emailed me and notified me that there will be three new categories for the next quarter. They are Sporting Good Stores, Cell Phone, and Book Stores.

The Sporting Good Stores categories would be stores like Sports Authority, Dick’s Sporting Goods, REI, Eastern Mountain Sports, et al

US Bank

Bookstores: Barnes and Nobels, Amazon.com (speculation, but I would imagine since both Citi and Chase code as Book Store with their Visa cards). The details say only Kindle books…

Cell Phone: sounds pretty generous since it covers both wireless service as well as phones/equipment. This would also mean 5% for buying an iPad at a Verizon store.

  • Is anybody else wondering whether “bookstores” includes Amazon Payments?

  • Unfortunately, I believe AP is categorized differently than Amazon. I forget what it is, I haven’t used it in a while with a regular credit card
