The other day I went to Kmart to buy a gift card with a gift card. I forgot to bring the gift card…
I went anyway because they sold the Moneypak and their POS (point of sale, not a piece of….) are archaic and I thought I could get away with purchasing a Moneypak with credit.
Here’s the chain of events:
- I buy two bags of chocolate and the Moneypak’s at the cashier
- I tell him I’d like to pick one up, he reads it over, rings it up on the POS and asks how much would I like to load
- $500
- POS is flagged and needs a manager override because it was a large denomination
- Manager overrides without asking any questions
- I attempt to pay with credit
- POS says cash or check only
- Cashier couldn’t cancel and had to require manager again
In total, it took about 15 minutes and felt like an eternity.
I still need to find a place that can sell me a Moneypak with credit…
