Since receiving my Nationwide Visa Buxx, I have been loading $500 each time to earn 563 Ultimate Rewards points using my Chase Freedom. To unload the $500, I head to Wholefoods every week in the morning and purchase snacks and breakfast. Each visit is always less than $10, then I would use their cash back feature and get back the max of $100. Typically, those purchases I would use my Chase Freedom. Let’s look at this breakdown on the missed points as I unload the Visa Buxx.
The calculation of 21 UR points is 10 points for $10, then 10% for the transaction, and 10 points for the transcaction, with the latter two from the Chase exclusives. I am actually netting 479 Ultimate Rewards points loading the Nationwide card for $2. Average cost for those UR points: $.0042/point
At the current pace, I load $500 each month and drain it out within the month. I am thinking if I should accelerate the pace of points earning through more loads and more visits to Wholefoods. I’d very much find a place that offers more cash back per transaction so I can do more than $500 a month. This is one of the reasons why I started the post to compile a list of cash back vendors.
