Troubling Thursday News

Yet another disappointing post… There is a discussion on FlyerTalk about US Bank Cash+ earnings and bonus redemption.

From US Bank Site:

  • Earn 5% cash back on your first $2,000 in net purchases each quarter on the combined two categories you choose like Restaurants or Department Stores.1

  • Earn 2% cash back on your choice of one everyday category like gas, groceries or drug store purchases.1

  • Earn 1% cash back on all other purchases.

  • Earn a $25 Cash+ Bonus when you redeem $100 or more in a single redemption. Limit of 1 per calendar year.

  • No limit on total cash back earned.

The cap of $2,000 net spend quarterly as well as one $25 Cash+ bonus per year hurts for manufacturing spend with the Cash+. No longer could you earn a 6.25% return because of the $25 bonus.

The 2% still appears to be unlimited. Under the right conditions, it would still be profitable venture. However, that road just became tougher.
