Last week, Kenny who writes on Miles4More uncovered a spend bonus that caps up to $20,000 and you will receive 50% back in miles. In essence, you will be earning 1.5x American Airlines AAdvantage/$1 spent for the four months (thanks bwiflyer). If you weren’t targeted, be sure to read some of the comments left in the post as it will explain how you can grab this bonus in the US Airways/American Airlines integration. This offer is 20% better than the next best deal: transferring from SPG to American Airlines. (Fixed the math, thanks harvson3)
The aforementioned best rate that you can earn, from credit cards with direct, non bonused spend with American Express Starwood Preferred Guest conversion would be 1.25 miles/$1 spent when you transfer in blocks of 20,000 points.
Here’s my plan of attack:
- Buy American Express Gift Cards
- Liquidate American Express Gift Cards using my favorite methods
Unlike Kenny and many of the commenters, I didn’t receive any bonus categories so every $1 spent will be 1.5 miles and that is why I’ll go straight to the American Express Gift Cards for a little extra from a portal. I’m still ironing out the math for a better estimate on the average cost per point, but my preliminary findings are looking towards using Raise.
In the coming weeks, stay tuned for a more detailed post on Raise and why I think it’s going to be the next best thing since the discovery of gift card churning.
No, it’s 20% better.
My bad, you’re right – need to fix, thanks!
“In essence, you will be earning 1.5x American Airlines AAdvantage/$1 spent for the three months.”
Actually it is 4 months- March 1 to June 30.
Doh! I’ll fix that too
Probably makes the US Airways/Aviator card one of the best general spend cards for the next couple months.
Yup, up to the $20k in spend
