It’s not earth shattering news and this option has been there for as long as I can remember, I just never used it until now.
Chase has a special slip that says “Payment” and you can pay any account with this slip. The way it’s designed, it looks like it was meant for loan payments. Either way, I had the opportunity to pay my Chase British Airways card without the payment stub with a money order without any issue.
The next thing to test is paying with a debit card which the friendly teller told me was possible. Not sure how it will be processed if it’ll be an “ATM Withdrawal,” “ATM purchase”, or “cash advance.” Just a forewarning: not sure on when I’ll follow up with it. I don’t go to the branch too often. The stars lined up for me when I made this payment
Did you ask if you can use any ebit card or does it have to be a ‘chase’ debit card?
The teller said any debit card would work
A while back I asked a Chase banker (as part of a different conversation) if I could pay with “my Chase debit card” and he said no.
That’s interesting that your banker told you that, maybe misinformed?
I occasionally go into a branch to make a payment, I just hand my card to the teller and the cash I an using to pay. I have tried using a prepaid gift-card debit card but it didn’t work, but I haven’t tried a reloadable card though…
That’s what I did when I made the initial payment. From @Teller, sounds like only cards capable of a cash advance can be used, like the MVD’s
I just got shut down by US Bank in branch payments with M/Os. 2 – 3k per month, and not even consistently. No warning, just a letter saying we’ve decided to break up with you. Be careful out there…
Thanks – that’s pretty strict
I wouldn’t try this unless you don’t care if Chase shuts you down.
I feel like it’s OK if it’s done with moderation, but totally agree, this is an avenue that could happen
I’ve made it a point since I got into this game to remain on a first-name basis with staff at my local Chase branch. Bank officers are salespeople; what they sell is credit. You can have no better friend when time comes to apply for a new card; always do it face-to-face. Often, Chase bonuses are greater for in-branch applicants.
Me too for all the other banks. I was thinking about writing up a post about in branch offers and how they’re better than online
Fortunately for me, I have a friend who is a Personal Banker at Chase so he takes care of me. For all of my credit card apps, I just use his employee number
This will be processed as a cash advance
Slurce: I am a chase teller
Thanks, this is good to know
