When gift card churning, you must know your limitations. Not in regards to your financial limits, but after owning the gift card you need to know your limits.
For instance, if you purchased a Sears Ecode gift card, what else can you do with it? Not a whole lot, but spending it. It’s a big pain with their electronic gift cards. Not only are they not worth very much on the third party market, there’s no real way to convert it to a physical card, and from my experience with using it at Kmart, a manager needs to approve the transaction.
Other limits like the inability to combine or take value off of gift cards will hamper you from selling a card. For instance, many third party buying sites like Plastic Jungle will only buy at a minimum of $25. Therefore, buying a bunch of $10 gift cards would not do much good in the churn if you cannot combine them.
Not quite a limit, but you should always keep in mind and check out Frequent Miler’s Laboratory to see what gift cards can be used online where you would still earn points when you use a portal.
