Gift Card Churning – Rejection

This rejection is far worse than any other rejection I have ever felt. For the first time for me, Cardpool has rejected two of my sales of a popular vendor.

For one transaction:

We’ve recently received your gift card, but were unfortunately unable
to accept it at this time.  For your convenience, we are returning
your gift card to you free of charge.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to
contact us at support@cardpool.com.

transaction.  For your convenience, we are returning your [gift card name withheld]
gift card to you free of charge.

After pressing them further I received (bolding emphasis mine):

What does this all mean? I am currently sitting on $1000 worth of gift cards. Even if I were to use it, $1000 is worth a lot of merchandise. I really need Plastic Jungle to step up and increase the rates as I had no issues with them.

Once I am able to liquidate this set of gift cards, I most likely will not pursue this vendor to gift card churn. As soon as I do, I will reveal the shroud of mystery behind the card I owned.

The gift cards in question, I was able to purchase on average at about 74% of the value and I earned 2% back from eBay Bucks.

  • Were these both the same vendor? If so, the second quote has the name in it. I’ve noticed a lot of these cards on Ebay lately and even picked up one or two for churning. Maybe that’s part of it.

  • Thanks Al! Corrected it.

Yes both are the same vendor — I plan to release all the information as soon as I can unload it. I have a few theories as well.

That’s exactly where I got it from, eBay. But after this churn, no more for me. I like being more liquid and it’s proven to be far too difficult to churn than other cards like Home Depot, Walmart, Target, Lowe’s, Wholefoods, and a few others.

  • Were you able to get rid of these cards? Which one were they?

    • I was! It was about $800 in total Starbucks gift cards
