I saw this last night on The Points Guy, buy 50,000 US Airways miles and get 50,000. They will match whatever your purchase is up to 50,000 miles.
If I buy 50,000, in total I’d have 100,000 miles and it would cost me $1750 *7.5% tax = $1881.25
That comes out to be 1.88 cents per mile. With the United Airlines deal, the best deal I drew up was over 2 cents a mile. Add up all the miles, we have a better deal with US Airways.
If everything lines up, I plan to sign up for an Ink card when they lower the spend requirements on November 11 go into effect and the Discover card as posted last night with the $200 sign up bonus.
I would use the Discover card, enroll in their quarterly bonus (5% cashback on online purchases up to $1500), and take advantage of this US Airways miles deal. It would effectively drop my mile purchase to $1606.25 making it 1.61 cents per mile ($200 sign up bonus, $75 cashback from 5%).
