Last night I found out my Chase Sapphire Preferred has been compromised. I made a purchase in NY during lunch time and towards the end of the evening there was a charge in Georgia. As soon as that happened, Chase emailed me alerting the charge and I had said no it was not legitimate. An hour after the email, I missed an automated telephone call from them.
As soon as I was able to talk to them, I called the number on the back of my card and had to completely verify my identity and spoke to their account protection and they cleared everything up. They promptly closed the card and issued a new card with a new number.
The customer service representative offered to have a special Saturday delivery, but I declined.
I barely used this credit card for online purchases. It is linked to Macy’s and US Bank. Outside of those, I use this card regularly for dining and commuting costs. I am thinking that one of the restaurants skimmed my card.
