The cashier took the coupon and said I had to be a Kmart rewards member before I could use it and handed it back to me. I was a little annoyed that she wouldn’t even open an account for me either, but at the same token I was trying to test if I could use the coupon and purchase a gift card with it.
What I love about Sears/Kmart, their store gift cards are readily available nearly everywhere, drug stores, online, and other third party vendors. My favorite blogger, Frequent Miler, posted that purchasing gift cards from Sears earn points. In this MilePoint.com forum post, it mentioned “upgrading” a Sears gift card to something else except an American Express. It was a little dated, but I had to try it out.
