The other day I had posted about the small bonus points that MyPoints offered and I did not have any data to back up the redemptions. Today, I have the data available for you to see.
Each point is worth less than a cent, and most options are not very good.
If you trade in the points for a cash equivalent you would be receiving the worst value for each MyPoint:
The best redemption would be for more devalued United Miles.
In my view, the best cash-equivalent if you don’t have a specific gift card use for MyPoints is redeeming for a $75 Marriott Gift Card and then selling for cash to a gift card exchange. It should come out to about $0.007/pt. Looking at it this way, redeeming MyPoints for United miles has been marginal since I’m “paying” ~$85 for 5,000 UA miles or about $0.017/mile.
