My Latest Credit Card Applications

The other day I applied for the following cards:

I was instantly approved for the Citi Forward and Discover with credit limits of $7,000 and $6,000, respectively. US Bank is still under review. The Ink Bold, I had to call the next day. They had to verify some information and they interviewed me. Here is what transpired:

Lisa “Thank you again for patiently waiting… I see that you’re doing business as [my name], what will you be doing?”
Me “Well, I plan to write a blog about credit cards and their uses”
Lisa “How long has this blog been opened?”
Me “2 months… I plan to make some purchases and because I pay off all of my credit cards I wanted to separate my business expenses from my personal expenses”
[an exchange that I don’t remember how we spoke about web experience and I had mentioned I had 5 to 6 years]
Lisa “What do you project your revenues for the site to be?”
Me “They’re going to be extremely low, as I am just starting out, hopefully $10,000”
Lisa “And how much do you expect that to be profit?”
Me “$7,500. I have very little overhead”
Lisa “Ok…”
[she proceeds to ask me several questions on my income and something about alimony and that I didn’t need to disclose]
Lisa “I’ve reviewed your accounts and I see you have a Sapphire with a credit limit of $10,500, and the max I see you’ve spent was about $2,500.. we can move some credit from here, with say $5,000”
Me “Ok”
Lisa “Ok, so you’ve been approved, you will receive a letter about the Sapphire with the reduction in credit, a welcome packet for the Ink, do you any other questions?”
Me “Do you know where they will be mailed from?”
Lisa “No, I’m sorry I don’t.”
Me “How long will they arrive?”
Lisa “5 to 7 business days…”
Me “Can I get it expedited?”
Lisa “Sure, it’ll arrive in 2 to 3 days”
Me “Is there a fee?”
Lisa “No”
[we wrapped up the conversation with me thanking her profusely]

I spoke to my good friend who used to be an SBS and advised me that Chase can expedite the delivery at no cost to you.

I now need to spend $5,000, $650, and $1,500 for the Ink Bold, Citi Forward, and Discover. The sign up bonuses are 50,000 Ultimate Reward points, 10,000 Thank You Points, and $200 cash back. As previously mentioned, I will be buying miles from US Airways using the Discover.

As a cash value, I’d be receiving $800 in sign up bonuses.
