Two months ago, American Express’s Sync offer had a buy $50 and receive $10 credit to your account at Lowe’s. As many of you know, Lowe’s sell gift cards in store. To simplify the process in store gift card purchases, I highly recommend remembering the gift cards that retain their value the best. It helps the process and becomes second nature, especially online flash deals before the deal runs out. If you miss the online deal, it’s good to remember when you churn gift cards over eBay.
General rule of thumb for high resale cards are gasoline cards and very popular retailers. Here are the cards that I churn the most and remember:
- Exxon
- Walmart
- Wholefoods Market
- Nordstrom
- BP
- Shell
- Best Buy
- Target
I haven’t churned these cards as I haven’t found any good deals for it, but they hold their value:
- Arco gas
- Apple
- Safeway
- Chevron
- Citgo
Basically, if it’s a gas gift card, some site will pay you close to 90% or more.
You should always check Gift Card Granny because they’re the only site that I know of that will list the values in an easy to read table.
Gift Card Granny’s app is even easier to navigate than the website and a handy tool to have when standing in front of the card display. I used it a couple of times over the holiday to see if any cards in a promotion were worth churning while at grocery stores offering deals.
Great tip, I never thought to look for an app!
Do there cards still have the highest resale values? Would you mind updating them? thanks!
The cards listed above are still holding their values, so you’re good to go
Followup question: How come these cards retain their high resell value? Thanks again!
These cards retain their value for a couple of reasons:
Popular retailer
Range of goods retailer sells
Product the retailer sells is essential or not
