Chase Sapphire Preferred

My friend’s boyfriend drives to work daily and spends about $600 a month on tolls alone. What’s awesome about the Chase Sapphire Preferred is the ability to earn 2x the points on all travel expenses. Besides the obvious travel expenses like airline and hotels, think EZ-Pass, rail/bus expenses, or when you are a tourist paying for mass transit.

In the example above on tolls, at the very least in cash value he would be earning $154.08 on the commuting expenses alone in a year (15,408 Ultimate Reward points). This covers the $95 annual fee and then some.

Those that have pretax commuting funds that are a hassle should definitely consider the Sapphire Preferred.

Don’t forget, if you sign up for this credit card, you may be eligible for better deals signing up in person rather than online. When I signed up, the customer service rep told me that my minimum spend is $2,000 vs $3,000 posted online.
