Way back in February, I saw this post from Travel Summary on buying MoneyPaks with credit cards. Shortly after reading and gift cards with PINs were unavailable, I went to my local Rite Aid and they said debit card only.
For the last three months, I have been to two Rite Aids with plenty of success and have been quite successful in purchasing multiple MoneyPaks without any problems. I have accumulated a modest amount of miles and points with the MoneyPaks where I fund my Serve and GoBank accounts.
As far as I know, Rite Aid is the only location that allows you to buy MoneyPaks with credit. Their point of sales are not hardcoded for cash only like CVS.
For folks that follow Chasing The Points closely, the post Declined Debit Card Usage was at Rite Aid.
Buying MoneyPak’s at Rite Aid is definitely a your mileage may vary situation. However, for the folks in the five boroughs, I can attest to the success in Manhattan versus Brooklyn.
yep, my experiments were negative at duane reade and seven eleven. Swiped at both, declined. Looks like hard coded.
I found the same results as well. I’ve run into two 7 Elevens that have Vanilla Reloads, but cash only.
Truly when someone doesn’t understand after that its up to other visitors that they will assist, so
here it occurs.
