Blending MBA Coursework with Manufactured Spending

I am a mercurial person. I often cannot make up my mind and when I do I am prone to changing the decision. I’m not sure if it’s being in a fast paced environment or everything being instant satisfaction. This causes me to be rushy and pushy. I keep working at not being like that and definitely causes friction and there are so many times I wish I could take it back. All that, I also dislike group work because I am afraid of the group may not like a decision I make which is another area I am working towards being better at.

To give you further evidence of my position, after receiving the letter of acceptance, I did not have a desire to go to school. I felt lost. Then about six weeks ago, after I was set straight, I was quite excited to go to school. After orientation, I started taking this online prerequisite course and that quickly drained my enthusiasm. I am happy to say that last night, after my first real MBA course, I feel reinvigorated. The professor, @mnburgess, got me back on the right track. I feel good. If all of my future courses are like this, I’m psyched and excited to absorb as much as I possibly can and apply it here on the blog and in life.

The course is Marketing Management and was quite enlightening that it kept giving me thoughts on this blog. I plan to incorporate any lessons that I learn into the world of manufactured spending, points/cash back generation, etc. I am still struggling with keeping ideas separate from Chasing The Points or incorporating them, but we will see where this goes.

Here was the last video we saw in class and the speaker, Seth Godin spoke about Otaku, attention grabbing ideas, among other things. It is a little dated, but many of the ideas in the video are still relevant.

On Otaku, it is a Japanese word for obsessive behavior. Our activities is definitely Otaku culture. I’m not sure about you, but I love talking about anything credit card related who will listen.

  • I’m a big fan of Seth Godin, easily one of the best marketing teachers of our generation.
