Updates to Latest Credit Cards That I Applied & Lessons Learned:
- I received my American Express Hilton HHonors card and quickly made the minimum spend already (only $750)
- I received my Barclay’s US Airway’s Chairman’s card. I was very fortunate I applied the day before the link stopped working. I have yet to make a purchase with it, but will shortly.
- Citi denied my second application for the American Airlines AMEX and mailed me a letter on releasing my tax documents to verify my income. I have the form filled out and am ready to mail it back to them.
Despite my last post about not applying for the American Express Starwood Preferred Guest Business card, I did that today and was approved. After all these applications, I don’t think I will be applying to anymore cards. Possibly the Chase Hyatt down the road, but not any more for the foreseeable future.
I am going to focus on gift card churning / manufacture spending to create plenty of points. I’m thinking about hitting the $30,000 in spend on the AMEX SPG card for their gold status without setting foot on to their property this year. As a note, my income does not support $30,000 in straight spend as I would need to manufacture the spend. If I decide to do it, I’ll be sure to update and document it.
