Ebates Birthday 2018 – Staples 15% Cashback today!

May 9, 2018 By Trevor 2 Comments

My friends, this is one of the best times of the year! Every year, Ebates celebrates their birthday, I’ve covered many of the last few years, but the best day of Ebates Birthday week is always when they include Staples at 15%+ cashback. Alas, Ebates Birthday 2018 is proving to be a fun week to be buying online!

Ebates Birthday 2018

Ebates Birthday 2018

I’ve long espoused the benefits of Shopping Portals, though sometimes its better to go for cashback instead of points. This is one of those cases! Ebates has a ton of stores at 15% cashback today, and this week.

Ebates Birthday 2018

You can get the entire list here but I’ll highlight some stores that jump out at me below:

  • Staples (Today only)
  • Dick’s Sporting Goods (Today Only)
  • Lord and Taylor
  • GNC
  • Foot Locker
  • Under Armour
  • Priceline (Today Only)
  • Philosophy
  • The Container Store (a great place to grab gift card holders!)
  • Jos. A. Bank
  • Jones New York
  • Margaritaville Cargo (for the fellow Jimmy Buffett fans)
  • Microsoft Store
  • PrAna (great travel pants)
  • Reebok

There are many more stores to choose from. If you were holding off on making a purchase, now’s not a bad time to maximize the cashback portals.

Just in case you don’t already have an Ebates account, I’d be awfully grateful if you’d consider using my referral link, it’ll get you $10 when you join and spend at least $25. In full disclosure, I will get $25.

Staples 15% is Amazing!

For me, the best part of Ebates Birthday 2018 is the fact that Staples is back again!

Ebates Birthday 2018, Staples

The best part is that this is completely stackable with your Chase Ink Plus for another 5x!

Wrapping Up

May is a great time of the year, especially for cashback shopping portals. Ebates has been celebrating their birthday week for the past few years, and Ebates Birthday 2018 has just as many great stores, if not a few more surprises, as compared to previous years!

How much Ebates Birthday 2018 cashback will you be making?

Ebates Member Appreciation Day -12% Cashback!

August 7, 2017 By Trevor Leave a Comment

Ebates is doing a Member Appreciation Day offering 12% cashback on 300+ stores. Its not as good as the Ebates Birthday Week in May, but today’s Ebates Member Appreciation Day with 12% cashback is still nothing to shake a stick at!

Ebates Member Appreciation Day

Ebates Member Appreciation Day

There are a good number of what I’ll call “meaningful” stores that have 12% cashback today. Here’s the initial look:

Ebates Member Appreciation Day

In addition to the stores in this graphic, other options include:

  • Travelocity
  • Priceline
  • Thrifty Car Rental
  • Coach
  • UGG
  • Foot Locker
  • Macy’s
  • Brookstone
  • Overstock.com
  • Petco
  • Reebok

You can get the entire list via Ebates Member Appreciation Sale page.

Wrapping Up

While we don’t see some of the truly exciting stores on this list today, like Kohls or Staples, I still think there is a lot of value to be had here. This is of course true whether you’re looking for reselling opportunities, personal use purchases, or for travel, since we have a couple of Online Travel Agencies (OTA), like Travelocity and Priceline.

Will you be buying anything via the Ebates Member Appreciation Sale today?

Ebates Birthday Week – 15% cashback at tons of stores including Staples!

May 8, 2017 By Trevor 7 Comments

Ebates Birthday Week is one of my favorite weeks of the year, and this year is almost as good as the first Ebates Birthday Week that I covered in 2015, 2016 was good, but Staples didn’t make an appearance. Already, Shopping Portals are gravy, Ebates just makes this a whole lot more gravy than usual!

What’s so awesome about Ebates Birthday Week?

For starters, how does 15% cashback at tons of stores sound?

Ebates Birthday Week

And there are tons of stores, including some really great stores for resellers! Just take a look at a selection:

Ebates Birthday Week

You can see the full list here; if you don’t already have an Ebates account, I would greatly appreciate it, if you would consider using my Ebates referral link.

Its important to note that some stores are only a limited time, so if there’s something you’ve been thinking of getting from Staples, Ulta, Macy’s or others, act quickly!

Highlights for Resellers

With all of the different stores, its easy to get stuck in the weeds, so I thought I’d highlight some of the stores that have traditionally been very good, assuming you have permission to sell the products:

  • Staples – This is a no brainer. Lots of excellent things to buy at Staples, especially when you’re talking about an effective 20% discount, plus 5x Ultimate Rewards Points.
  • Macy’s – There are often good buys here, especially as we get into wedding season.
  • Kohl’s – Kohl’s is particularly nice, when the stars align (read: the math that makes Kohl’s work)
  • Dick’s Sporting Goods – We are getting into the outdoor season

Wrapping up

Overall, I would say this is the best time of the year to use the Ebates portal.

What store are you most happy to see as part of Ebates Birthday Week?

Transfer FatWallet Cashback to Ebates – Get $10 more!

August 17, 2016 By Trevor 1 Comment

I just got an e-mail from FatWallet informing me that my cashback was at risk! Given that I love Shopping Portals, and I like to maximize everything I can, I had to jump on opportunity to transfer FatWallet cashback to Ebates and get $10 more! Of course, I’m not sure that this is exactly the last chance, but its a good reminder that if you have any FatWallet cashback, now’s a good time to act.

Background

May 10th, FatWallet shut down their shopping portal, instead focusing on Ebates. In the process, they initially offered folks to transfer their cashback to Ebates and get an additional $10.

transfer fatwallet cashback to ebates

Here’s the verbiage I received in the e-mail today:

Please update your FatWallet account to keep your Cash Back. Transfer your balance to our sister company, Ebates, and receive a $10 bonus* or cash out your full balance from FatWallet.

How to Transfer FatWallet Cashback to Ebates

Its actually about as simple as clicking a button for me, because they associated both accounts with my e-mail.

Transfer fatwallet cashback to Ebates

Clicking that button will get you over to the FatWallet / Ebates site for a quick transfer:

transfer fatwallet cashback to ebates

And then you’re done! It ended up netting me $10 on $0.90 of cashback that I hadn’t previously cashed out. Not a bad return for a whole 30 seconds.

Have you transferred your FatWallet balance to Ebates yet?

Get Ebates Cashback In-Store

June 30, 2016 By Trevor 4 Comments

I’m a huge fan of shopping portals, because they enhance profitability for resellers, and help save a bunch of money for consumers. Ebates continues to innovate by adding Ebates Cashback In-Store. This is of course on top of enhanced cashback via the mobile app.

Ebates cashback in-store

Ebates cashback in-store

Right now its only available at 20 stores, many of them not necessarily the ones you’d see at your local mall, but it is a step in the right direction! Of course Upromise has been doing this longer, but another cashback portal in the mix can only be a good thing.

Ebates Cashback In-Store Options (as of this posting)

  • Claim Jumper – 5%
  • Ann Taylor – 2%
  • Moosejaw – 5%
  • Tillys – 3%
  • New York & Company – 2.5%
  • J.Crew Factory – 2%
  • Dick’s Sporting Goods – 1.5%
  • Saks Fifth Avenue – 4%
  • Old Navy – 2%
  • Banana Republic – 2%
  • Eddie Bauer – 3%
  • Charming Charlie – 1%
  • Gap – 2%
  • Express – 2.5%
  • Kiehl’s – 4$
  • Footwear etc. – 5%
  • American Eagle Outfitters – 2%
  • Sephora – 5%
  • Rebecca Taylor – 3.5%
  • The Body Shop — expired as of 30 June, but was 4%

How to enroll

Ebates cashback in-store sign-up

Ebates cashback in-store sign-up

Much like Upromise you need to add your credit or debit cards to your account. Then you have to explicitly link to your desired offer. Its unfortunate that Ebates doesn’t make it easy, and just automatically enroll anyone who’s loaded a credit card or debit card to their account.

Ebates has also shared a nice little video highlighting the new feature:

Conclusion

Getting cashback from an online portal, in store is awesome. Its not amazing amounts of cashback, but every little bit helps. The fact is, the addition earning of Ebates Cashback in-store should be viewed as pure gravy. Take a moment to sign up, make sure you have your workhorse credit cards added to your account, and you’re done. Every little bit helps.

Reselling Roundup – Ungating, Virtual Assistants, Portal Points, and EBates Birthday!

May 7, 2016 By Trevor 2 Comments

So far, these little Saturday reselling roundup specials have been well received, so we’ll keep them going for a few more weeks at least.

Reselling Roundup

  • I’m hearing consistently that it has been harder and harder to get ungated in grocery and health and beauty, among other categories. The bad news is, Amazon is not taking invoices from online only wholesalers anymore, the good news is, this link has some suggestions for successfully being approved.
  • If you’re like me, you’re running out of time to do all the things you need to do. Especially if its a side-gig. Ryan Grant offers some suggestions for hiring a virtual assistant for online arbitrage. I’ve also been trying out Fancy Hands (which I learned from Jeanne), if you’re interested, here’s my link.
  • If you’re looking for a way to get more United Miles, Oren reports that MPX has added Ebay Gift Cards!
  • Ebates’ Birthday is next week – Time to plan to go big (or go home? But please, just plan to go big!) Miles to Memories has a sneak peak of the list, but I’m still hoping to see Staples added to the list at game time!

And in case you missed it, here are my Reselling Tidbits from the week:

  • A discussion of whether a 7% CD is a great deal, when you could be reselling
  • Inventory adds the ability to add a second account – great for scaling up!
  • Public Service Announcement (PSA) Always add a product to inventory before you buy!

Ebates birthday – 15% cashback coming soon!

May 5, 2016 By Trevor 6 Comments

Ebates Birthday

Ebates sent out a teaser e-mail this evening about the Ebates Birthday celebration next week. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty excited!

Before I go further: If you don’t already have an Ebates account, please consider signing up with my link – you’ll get $10.

Past Performance is not an indication of Future Success – But could be!

Last year, Ebates pretty much floored me, so much so that I went big. Last year, was Ebates 16th birthday, and they celebrated by geting 16% off various merchants, including, Staples! That’s right – for a day Staples was 16% cash back!

Preparing for Ebates Birthday Week

Ebates implies a few things — First of all, they recommend that you get their App. I’ve talked in the past, about enhanced cashback via the Ebates app, they also recommend the “cash back button” as a browser add-on. I don’t do that personally… But you never know.

Really this is a great opportunity for any purchases you may need to make.

It’s also a great opportunity if you happen to do reselling via Online Arbitrage (OA), in which case you could really clean up. Last year my Ebates rebate was north of $600 just from a single day of Ebates Birthday – the day they bumped Staples up to 16%. In hindsight, I don’t think I even went as big as I should have. So you can be sure I’ll be looking for going bigger this year! Besides, if Staples were to be 15% this year, that’s 15% + 5x (Ink) + 5% (Staples Rewards) – so 25%! Seems like it could have great potential!

Bottom Line

Be ready! May 9-16th, will be an excellent opportunity to leverage 15% cashback at some of yours (and my) favorite stores! I don’t know about you, but I’ve got my fingers crossed that Staples is on their list once again!

Enhanced cashback via Ebates mobile app

November 7, 2015 By Trevor Leave a Comment

Shopping Portals are a big difference maker in reselling, earning more miles, or getting cashback for purchases you were going to make anyway. I wrote a few months ago, that Ebates was offering temporary increased cashback when making purchases through the mobile app, and before that, enhanced cashback on American Express gift cards when bought through the Ebates mobile app.

I said in September, that I thought Ebates was leading the pack. The fact is, that mobile devices are becoming a bigger and bigger part of mobile commerce, in fact, there are articles from August, 2014, that stated that Mobile accounted for more than half of eCommerce.

So, it should be no surprise that, as we start getting into the holiday shopping season, Ebates is running a 7 day special, of enhanced cashback when making purchases via the Ebates Mobile App.

ebates app 7 day promo

Of course looking at what Ebates considered as “enhanced” cashback, really doesn’t strike me as really noteworthy. Do note that Ebates says there are a 100 stores of enhanced cashback, the above graphic is just a selection of them.

What is noteworthy, is the increased use of the mobile app. It means we can’t simply go to places like Cashback Monitor. In all fairness, even without considering mobile apps, we found Cashback Monitor isn’t covering everything, like Aeroplan.

Wrapping Up

This holiday season, as you’re choosing the best cashback options, you’ll want to remember to consider the Ebates mobile app. I’m not saying that its actually useful — in fact, I’ve yet to see anything truly worthwhile, but, the fact remains, it could happen.

Get more cashback through the Ebates Mobile app

September 28, 2015 By Trevor 3 Comments

Shopping Portals can often add outsized value, however the dynamic seems to be changing a bit. Ebates, by my view seems to be leading the pack, and here is why:
Ebates
Ebates is doing one-day mobile exclusive where they are in some cases doubling the cash back when using their mobile app.
This is not the first time we’ve seen better payouts to use the app verses the web portal. In fact, Ebates did this on smaller scale, with American Express gift cards back in July.
In the outside chance that you don’t yet have an Ebates account – you can find a link where we both benefit on the Support Tagging Miles page.

Conclusion

As often happens, once you get a good tool like cashbackmonitor, its easy to become complacent, but it seems pretty evident that we’ll now need to be checking mobile apps for the best cashback in addition to cashbackmonitor.

Stop the Presses! 21x at Staples! Today Only!

May 13, 2015 By Trevor 5 Comments

EBates Staples 16x

I just happened to look at Milenerd‘s morning e-mail (which I do every morning), where he mentioned Ebate’s ongoing 16% cash back in honor of their 16th year. Dia had a post earlier in the week, but for background, from May 11-18 you can shop particular stores and get 16% cash back. On Monday, Kohls and Macy’s were on the list. I didn’t look yesterday, but this morning I noticed this:

Staples 16x CashBack

Note that big green box – Staples 16% Cash Back! I haven’t had a chance to look for awesome deals yet, but, it’s Staples! I’m sure there will be some. If you use your Chase Ink card, you get another 5x, getting you up to 21x. Heck, if you’ve got a Staples Rewards number, you could get another 5% back in rewards, and could really be looking at 26x!

Good luck deal hunting! I’m sure BigHabitat will have something out soon!

H/T Milenerd
