Amazon Prime is $72 today to new subscribers of the service. Hat tip to mike971 over at FatWallet. TheDealMommy has also written about it. Amazon Prime is normally $99 per year and includes a large slate of benefits, including free 2 day shipping on Amazon sold or fulfilled items, a large library of streaming video and music, cloud storage, and more.
I’ve been a subscriber since the product was introduced and it’s been a real time-saver for me. We’ve always used it to have regular shipments of consumable items like paper towels, detergent, etc. Once we had our daughter, we added diapers and wipes with the Amazon Mom program.
The link to the offer, good for today only, is here. The terms state that existing Prime members purchasing or receiving this offer as a gift will simply get a $72 gift credit to their account. One idea, that I really can’t confirm, is that you may be able to purchase a gift membership for yourself, but only apply it the day after your current subscription expires. That may get you around the “new” subscriber condition and allow you to renew at $72. However, I have no means of testing this, so jumping in is at your own risk! If you’re interested in a gift subscription, though, you can use this link.
For what it’s worth, I just purchased a gift subscription, sent to my email address scheduled for the day after my current Prime subscription expires. That isn’t until December, though, so this deal will be long gone before I can confirm. If anyone has an expiring subscription today, let us know in the comments!
Please note that none of these Amazon links compensate me in any way. I am just a satisfied customer. Wherever possible, I use Amazon Smile links, which allow you to support your favorite charities with your purchase.
