Like many avgeeks, I was glued to YouTube for a bit today watching some of the great flight displays from Farnborough Airshow.. There was some news out of the day as well, so I thought I’d offer a few observations and some of the best stuff I’ve seen.
News
- Airbus announced it will offer A330neo (new engine option), as a way of extending the life of the A330 and competing in the 250-300 passenger market with Boeing’s 787.
- Qatar Airways’ A380s are still in limbo, worse yet, is the fact that three A380’s are just sitting in Hamburg.
I’m sure there’s more but, those were the pieces that jumped out to me.
Now to the good stuff!
The show started off with RAF’s Red Arrow fly by:
Also on Day 1, were flights by Airbus’ A380 test aircraft (reference above Qatar Airways article for why it wasn’t a Qatar A380), and the A350 XWB. Here’s a video of the A350 XWB’s flight.
And saving the best for last, here is one the best video I’ve seen in a while – Boeing’s 787-9. (Make sure you have your sound on for this too).
