I just wanted to take a minute to share one of my faves: Earth Spirit sandals from Walmart. Earth Spirit is now on clearance under $10. Why do I call them a secret?

Because shoes are the one area I refuse to skimp…one ruined trip due to hurting feet is one too many. I learned at Disney World that you can get blisters on the bottoms of your feet by packing the wrong shoes.

These $20 (or less) sandals replaced a pair of Think! sandals that retailed at over $100. The Thinks wore out in less than one season. $100 for a pair of disposable sandals hurt.

I’ve bought a new pair of Earth Spirit for $20 (or less if I can get them on clearance in fall) each of the past four years.  Guess what? I have yet to see a blister while wearing them.

I keep two pairs in rotation all summer. At the end of the season I toss the worst pair, demote the 2nd best to beach shoes and buy a new one for everyday wear next year.

The sandals aren’t fancy but I find them appropriate for most travel situations. Sure they’re not Manolos, but they’re not nurse shoes, either. Best of all, they have a really expansive size range. I’m a wide in most shoes but the thong and velcro clasp styles fit me just fine. The ones with a firm leather strap across the foot are a bit tight for me- but should do well on most medium feet.
