Our 26 day trip encompassing 4 countries (1 twice), 7 changes of hotel, 3 car rentals, 2 train voyages (so far), and one national holiday is now 10 days away, and I’m still making and re-making travel plans. It’s time to admit I am powerless over the compulsion to fiddle and that it will require drastic measures to make me stop.
Maybe it’s because May put me so far behind, maybe it’s the complexity of the trip, maybe it’s just my chronic allergy to spreadsheets, but there are more gaps in our schedule than make me comfortable because I haven’t committed to any activities.
It’s such a delicate balance: you want vacation to be relaxing (see: Griswold, Clark W.) but not so unstructured that you waste time puttering about wondering what to do. Add kids to the mix and your formulas have to be totally re-calculated.
So, I’m opening my entire schedule up to you! The social media team at Modgy saw how much I loved their travel vases and offered me three sets of their travel friendly vases and luminaries to give away. Areas that are open are in italics. Items booked are in bold.

It might be a bit far for a day trip, but the Dingle Peninsula is the best drive in Ireland with tons of sites to checkout along the way!
Don’t forget to pack plenty of snacks for the kids!! Bring extra change of clothes for the plane ride! Have fun!
In Austria, consider a drive to the ice caves in Werfen http://www.eisriesenwelt.at/ It’s a bit of a drive (maybe 90 minutes from where you are?) but it’s totally different from anything else on your agenda and I bet your kids would like it. Hohenwerfen “Castle” (fortress) is also in the area and it could be fun for them to compare to the castles in Ireland.
If you go to Eagle’s Nest, consider combining it with a boat ride on the Konigssee. Most include a horn player to demonstrate the echo inbetween the cliff walls, which is pretty cool.
Trip Tip: Remember to pack an umbrella, I always forget that! Enjoy!!
