In April 2014, we took a weekend trip with my parents to celebrate my mom’s birthday. We all wanted to go back to Key West and figured it would be easier and cheaper to fly Southwest down. They have since cancelled service directly into Key West.
Reason for Choosing
Location, location, location. Really it is in a great location. It is just off of front street and easy walking distance to Duval St.
Lobby and Check-in/Check-out Experience
The check-in experience was great as was check-out. Check in happened in the air conditioned lobby, and they offered a glass of champagne which of course worked well for my mother after hearing about the various trips we take. We were also given the choice of points or amenity. We ended up going with the amenity but more on that later.
The Check out was smooth sailing as well.
Where the hotel stood out
Breakfast was fantastic at the restaurant on the property. Service was great and so was the food.
The rooms seemed to have been newly renovated or at least very well maintained. The bathroom was impressive. They also provided turn down service.
Our amenity came on time and was delicious. Two local beers and some macaroons.
When my parents arrived at their room they found a surprise for my mother in the fridge. A slice key lime pie for her birthday.
Where the hotel fell a little short
The pool is a bit on the small side and can fill up pretty quickly. The hotel lacks a lounge but they do give discounts on the drinks and food at the bar during happy hour. That being said it was an easy walk to get to dinner off property.
Wrapping Up
It’s a great hotel for a long or short trip to Key West. Good staff with good service. We would return.
