Nepal Earthquake because we can’t ignore natural disasters…
Jon, who writes Wanderlusty, recently vacationed (like a real one, because he totally was in Tunis but still working a few short weeks before), in Nepal, and was unfortunately there when the strongest earthquake in 80 years hit. Here is his 4 part story. It is a moving and insightful must read.
- The Big One! Staying safe…
- The Next 24 Hours. Making new friends along the way.
- To the Airport and Making the Plane. Staying clam, cool while navigating the confusion.
- Things Jon learned and his final words on the experience. Insightful and some really good pointers for all those traveling.
From Keri, at Heels First Travel and in the wake of the heartbreaking earthquake in Nepal, sharesa way to share with family and friends that you’re safe via facebook – here’s the details.
The Freddies and Delta Jet Drag.
You should see a bunch of posts around the blogosphere this weekend about the Freddie Awards. For a little background, the Freddie Awards, named after Sir Freddie Laker, the founder of Laker Air, Britain’s first all-jet air carrier (way back in 1966). Randy Peterson (who we all know, is the Godfather of miles and points), named the awards, which award the most rewarding Frequent Traveler programs, as voted by frequent travelers, after Sir Freddie because he was a pioneer market in the travel industry.
All that aside, Jeanne, at Le Chic Geek was the unofficial live-tweeter of the night, you can see who won, and who was spotted attempting to fly out of the Delta Museum.
This morning (Friday), a team of 20 bloggers and media professionals pulled a 757 plane for Charity. You can still donate (you can see my original post here). I’m proud to say, the team #GlobalHashtags, led by Ed at Pizza in Motion, pulled the 757 a predetermined distance (I think it was 10 or 15 feet) in 12.100 seconds, a record for the team! (it was our first time, afterall!)
