I get great enjoyment out of commercials. On Friday I shared Delta’s new commercial, today I thought, given this is College Football season, this might at least garner a few laughs. Why Discover? Well, because of their Deal of the Year (FrequentMiler’s term) after all.
While the commercials below pre-date the Deal of the Year, I still find it entertaining to look at Discover’s previous marketing approach, compared to their current approach (and the fact remains, none of the commercials speak to double cashback or Apple Pay).
Older approach:
Now, I am not charging anything at Ms. Prissy’s Cat Emporium, but, nor will I translate “dagum,” Of course, seeing that, I need some inspiration, so lets turn to Lou Holtz (former Notre Dame coach, and, as folks may know from Twitter, I’m kind’ve a Notre Dame fan):
Now lets take a brief look at the more resent Discover commercials.
Their new statement: “We treat you like you treat you” — Personally, I find Peggy to be infinitely more entertaining… and besides, there are no goats in the frozen tundra of Peggy’s call center.
