Travel:
- Malaysia Airlines instituted checked bag restrictions for their long-haul routes (some of which has already gone away), due to strong headwinds and a preference to not overfly Russia Ukraine, and other countries. They rolled back the restriction on their KUL-LHR flight operated by an A380, but not their 777-operated flight to AMS.
- Spirit Airlines makes a change at the top, in a rather quick fashion for an “orderly succession plan.”
- Rapid Travel Chai shares his new travel briefcase. It’s pretty slick, although, if you ask me, the Financial Times really makes the bag.
- Greg the Frequent Miler shares a cure to motion sickness.
Miles and Points:
- Scott has created a tool where you can compare multiple airline award charts at once between two airport codes. It’s worth playing around with.
- The best cashback card card is getting better. I’m a huge fan of Fidelity’s fee free 2% cashback AMEX. Well, by July 2016, it’ll be a Visa, which means it will be more widely accepted. Even better, that kind’ve/sort’ve dovetails with Costco’s move away from AMEX too!
- Richard (@thepointsjock), bought his car with a Platinum Amex… like, paid for the entire thing. Not a bad way to get points, if you would have otherwise paid cash for your new car.
- Chuck, writing for the Doctor of Credit reports that Shopping Portals don’t always track in private mode. I’m a huge fan of the power of shopping portals, and after reading this, I’m realizing that I really need to start using a second one, not just a private or incognito window when I purchase stuff.
- PF Digest travels differently than I do, which is awesome. He shares how he took his family of 6 to Nicaragua for Christmas, all on points/miles.
Reselling:
- Chasing the Points shares a new reselling tool he’s added to his toolbox. While I haven’t used it yet, but it very well make it into my Reselling Toolbox once I do get the chance to test it out.
- The Saverocity Observational Deck started the new year talking about reselling, which continues to evolve, or perhaps just we continue to evolve. The added bonus? Special Guest Oren from Oren’s Money Saver!
Avgeek:
- @ThatJohn caught a video of a Qantas 747 flying from Perth to South Africa with a 5th Engine. Not something you see every day.
