I’m always happy to see 2% or better cashback portal payouts, especially when it means I can place smaller orders from each portal rather than relying on just one portal. Today it’s ebates turn to offer 2%, but like the past few times it’s only available using their mobile app. Unlike most of the 2% offers recently, this appears to be good on both the business and personal AMEX gift cards.
And, like each other time over the past two months, this is what I see when I click through. I’m wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and found a solution. I get the debates wants us to use our app for online shopping, but it seems counterproductive and very frustrating when the silly thing won’t work!
I have tried each of the four Android devices that I can get my hands on, but I don’t have an iOS device that run iOS 8.0 or newer so I haven’t been able to try it with that. Update: Ebates Twitter team reached out to me and confirmed that the AMEX order link within their app does not work in Android. All other stores that I tried do work. Greg at Frequent Miler also confirmed that he was able to place an order using an Apple ipad
Does the ebates app work for you to open Amex gift cards site? If so, I’d be happy to hear any suggestions on what settings I can change to make mine work!
I believe it only works with iOS devices. I’ve never had a problem ordering with my iPhone, but I have yet to hear of anyone having success with an Android device.
I’m not having luck getting an order in on my iPhone or iPad today. Tried this morning and just tried again this evening. I went and got the ebates visa card for an additional 3% on ebates orders so this is a 5% opportunity that it looks like I’ll miss today.
It isn’t working on my iOS 7 device. I get the following error:
“The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “www311.americanexpress.com” which could put your confidential information at risk.”
Granted, it is 1:18 AM Easter Time (6/30/2015), and maybe the 2% promo expired.
