Just a quick post and shout-out to Starwood Preferred Guest and Jeff from Indulge the Wanderlust for letting me bring out my 90s chick along with 20,000 of my 40-something Mom friends last night at the Verizon Center in DC.
If you’ve never heard 20,000 suburban women who have drunk one too many cosmopolitans scream OH OH OH OH OH, OH OH OH OH, OH OH OH OH OH, THE RIGHT STUFF!, well, your life is just not complete!
If you’re considering catching a further stop on the The Package Tour, here’s a quick synopsis:
- First concert I’ve ever attended that started exactly on time (We Moms have to get up at 6AM!)
- Boys2Men: Amazing vocals, even after all these years. Wished their set lasted more than 30 minutes.
- 98 Degrees: (To be fair, they are after my time) Well, um…there were three hot guys in wife beaters and one who seemed to learn they were going on tour last Tuesday so wisely chose to remain clothed in his plum dockers and long sleeved shirt. It was THIS close to an SNL sketch.
- NKOTB: The Beantown Boys BROUGHT IT. Two solid hours of entertainment! Lasers, Pyrotechnics, Levitating stages, Solid vocals (including that amazing falsetto), dancing, and banter. Even those who attended with a heavy layer of snark could not fail to be impressed. Granted, I might recommend a doctor visit if a crotch thrust resulted in flames for the average man, but for Donnie Wahlberg it works!
I have to admit, though, that my friend Kristin and I both had in the back of our minds (especially during 98 degrees, and ESPECIALLY when they featured a video of a woman rolling around on a tiger-print blanket) the greatest boy band of all time:
Thanks SPG for the tickets and DM for putting out the call for a friend with whom to take in the full “Package.” The SPG seats were great — right in the middle of the arena so that when the performers were using the center floor stage, we were right across from it. Boyz II Men…love.
They called it “The Package Tour?!” OMG. I guess we really are all grown up.
Hangin’ Tough, indeed!
It was hanging, for sure. Tough? Well…;)
