We stayed at the Hyatt Capital Gate on our way to Bangkok in May (just before the Thai Military’s Coup).
Reason for Choosing
The Hyatt Capital Gate was close enough to the airport that it made sense to try it out, plus we needed to start getting Hyatt nights this year. Besides, it was a new hotel for us.
Lobby and Check-in/Check-out Experience
Not much unlike the Park Hyatt Toyko, in that you have to take a elevator to the lobby to check in. Unlike most Hyatts, check-in for elites is in the lobby. It went smoothly though I think that might have been due to the fact my wife was very distracted by the Arabic coffee and dates set out in the lobby. Plus they were able to verify our transfer back to the Airport with Etihad as we did not have a working cellphone.
Check out was a breeze, and the Etihad car was waiting for us by the time we made it to the lobby.
Where the hotel stood out
This is a good city hotel. They had comfortable seating by the lobby bar where they offered drinks and some light food. One could easly spend some time with a good book there.
We used a suite upgrade when we booked. I have to say that the suite was very nice and pretty substantial. Even though we were on a low floor right above the pool so we kept the shades closed. There was plenty of space to spread out.
One of the nicest things about the suite was the bathroom tub. It has a great view. Something, I suppose we are not used to.
The hotel’s gym and pool had great views. The gym was very well equipped and the pool would be very enjoyable at night with the way things were lit, although we can’t speak from personal experience, as we were just too tired to take a dip.
Being a Hyatt Diamond member, breakfast was included in the price. They had a wide variety of options. Everything that we tried was great.
Where the hotel fell a little short
The hotel does not have an elite lounge which is a shame the views. Other wise it was a more than sufficient for a single night at the hotel.
Wrapping Up
We’re due back in the United Arab Emirates later in the year. I’m not sure that I’d stay at the Hyatt Capital Gate if I wanted to see Abu Dhabi, because I felt as if it was kind’ve far out of the city. If it was reasonably priced and I just needed a place to stay, I think I would stay.
