UPDATE 5/6/2013: A friend did the old link–the one with the $2,500 minimum spend–for him and his wife and both apps were rejected. They were able to get approved via the reconsideration line, but only with the $5,000 minimum spend. Unless we hear of others having success with the older application, we’re calling this one dead and recommend the new application.

Finally, after a bit of a personal credit card offer drought, we have a bit of activity. The new offer is from Lufthansa Miles and More, and it’s 20,000 miles after your first purchase plus 30,000 more after $5,000 of spending, for a total of 55,000 miles (including the spend mileage).
That’s the official offer. There is an unofficial offer we dug up a few months ago right here. This offer is actually from 2011 when it was linked to by View From The Wing, but it is apparently still active. This one has the exact same bonus, but only a $2,500 minimum spend. We haven’t applied through this link, nor do we know anybody who has, but now that there’s an official 50,000 mile bonus out there you’re probably not risking too much if you want to try the old application link instead of the official one.
So what is this card good for? The consensus is that these are good for domestic U.S. flights on United, and maybe not much else. It looks like you can book a round-trip first class ticket for 35,000 miles, which would be great, though you can always go coach for 25,000. Finally, Candadian Kilometers has a great review of all the redemption options which we strongly encourage you to read if you’re interested in this card.
