It’s been extremely busy in the PFD household lately. In addition to the usual family and full-time job duties keeping me busy, we’re also adding on to our house (thank you Discover for timing the home improvement bonus with our schedule!) and we just started homeschooling as well. All of which is to say, I haven’t had nearly as much time for either posting or for reading cool blogs as I’d like.
About the blogs: I don’t know if it’s due to the fact that I don’t spend as much time looking for material as I used to, but it seems like there aren’t as many new points and miles blogs popping up these days as there were a few years ago. The only ones I can think of from the past year or so are Oren’s Money Saver and Money Metagame, both of which have some good stuff. Am I missing out? Are there other new blogs worth reading? Please comment below. If you’ve recently started a blog, or if you have an obscure blog nobody reads, feel free to plug yourself here.
And while I’m talking about blogging: bloggers both new and old should read this piece: Theย insanely slow road to building a blog (and why most people give up). Heck, you non-bloggers should read it too. Endurance is an important trait to have for bloggers; I still remember the first few months with single-digit daily pageviews. Blogging’s a lot easier if you really like what you’reย doing. You can do it if you’re mostly motivated by money, but it won’t be nearly as much fun.
So anyway: who’s got a new blog for me to check out?

While my focus is on traveling, I do have some insight into various financial aspects of travel (credit cards, earning points, etc).

And I definitely agree, Money Metagame and Oren’s Money Saver are top notch!

Thanks so much for the plug!

That Miles Per Day guy has some good stuff…but, as your link indicates, will likely burn out….we all do at some point ๐
Actually, I like the reddit churning thread too:

I totally agree, Oren’s Money Saver is one of those that I’ll read through each evening. I’d read when he posts if his blog was registered in such as way that I can read it from work but alas it isn’t (and not sure how to fix that). I’d also second TBB’s comment about Miles Per Day having interesting posts, one day I may buy concert tickets to resell–ok fine, I’ll admit, I’ve done it in the past, it just seems more risky with the tangibility of the product.

I LOVE Miles Per Day, Money Metagame, Oren’s Money Saver, PointsForLater, and you of course! ๐
I just started one with a couple friends for fun too. Due to our jobs I understand it’ll be difficult to keep up with, but at least it’s fun. ๐ http://www.demflyers.com

Since you asked, may I throw my hat into the ring?
I started http://www.plane2port.com about six months ago as a site for people who like to cruise, and want to use miles and points to maximize their cruises.
While I was getting used to blogging, I mostly just talked about my personal travels and how I was earning points and miles. Now that I am somewhat higher along the steep learning curve I am returning my focus to cruising.
Any feedback, whether positive or negative is appreciated!

Your website is on constant refresh for me. I can’t get enough of that re-selling stuff…especially with your generous margins. ๐
