Strange things are afoot in Chase’s credit card department. Consider:
- Freequent Flyer recently reported that Chase no longer has a working link to its Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Plus business card (though there is still a Premier version available with a higher annual fee).
- While perusing Chase’s site a week or two ago I noticed that the GM business card is no longer taking applications either.
- And just now Chasing The Points reported that the Fairmont card is no longer on Chase’s site.
What say you, folks? Is this a harbinger of good things to come, or of bad things?

They partners probably ended their agreements with Chase except for Southwest.

I noticed the Fairmont card had disappeared at least a month ago. Travis is probably right about the partner agreements ending re: Fairmont and GM. I think the loss of the Southwest card is just an attempt to streamline their card lineup along the lines of getting rid of the Ink Bold which I did not really understand the purpose of once they introduced the Ink Plus. I would say these moves do not say much one way or another. At best, one can hope that they will try to get a new partner(s) now that it seems Fairmont and GM are gone but Fairmont is a small chain so it is not exactly a big blow for them to to be gone.

Two points: One, I think I saw some discussion of partners negotiating new agreements with CC companies such as AMEX. That could contribute to it, and this could be Chase’s way to stack the cards.
Second point: Anytime there are new products, it benefits us, those that game the system. I haven’t overly done things, but I can’t argue with new products, as that means I don’t have to worry about the 18-24 month wait for a new card (with bonus).
One thing is unchanged: Chase is a powerhouse for miles and points cards. I doubt that will change. If anything, this is a new chapter, a potentially very lucrative chapter. But I’ll be conservative ’til we see how this pans out.

Here’s your answer on the GM Business Card. It’s becoming a Capital One issued card (just like the personal version).

I recently received a personalized offer for the GM card, so it may not be going away.

That makes sense, it was odd having it split between the two banks like that.
