$10/$50 UPDATE: Following up on our last post, we’ve gone through all 30 pages (as of press time) of the Slickdeals Target coupon thread, plus we just got back from Target ourselves. Here’s what you need to know about that Target coupon:
- Each computer can print two coupons. That’s what’s been reported on the interwebs, and that was our experience as well. Of course, if you have multiple computers, or a computer at work, or friends with computers, then by all means get some more coupons. Copying and scanning the coupon is prohibited, but by all means make use of computers available to you.
- Coupons can be combined with other $/$$ coupons. When Mr. PFDigest paid for his order at Target, he was fortunate enough to receive a $8/$80 coupon from the register, which he promptly passed along to Mrs. PFDigest, along with the $10 gift card, bringing our total savings for the evening to $28. And if you’re concerned that the coupon combined with, say, a $5/$50 coupon will not work, at least one poster commented that this is not a concern and even if the first coupon gets you below $50 the next one will still work. If so, kudos to Target for a good job of programming their system!
- For additional savings, buy a Target gift card at another retailer with a rewards credit card, then use that gift card to pay for your order. For example, if you buy a $50 Target GC using your Amex Blue Cash Preferred, that’s an additional $3 you’re saving for each coupon use.
- It seems that you can buy third-party gift cards and still receive the $10 Target gift card. The fine print on the coupon offer reads, “GiftCards and tax will not be included in determining purchase total.” GiftCards is what Target calls its own gift cards. Since they are not using the term in the generic sense, we would say that you are legally and morally in the clear if you buy $50 worth of gift cards. Posters report that the system will not allow Visa prepaids, but is allowing restaurant gift cards.
- If you have a Kroger in your area that sells Target gift cards, you can really work this deal. Apparently Kroger is running a 4x fuel points promotion, so purchasing $100 in Target gift cards will save you $0.40 per gallon on up to 35 gallons, for a maximum of $14.
- Target registers are also randomly printing out coupons for free photo calendars from Shutterfly, a $21 value. We got one of the coupons, so we can verify this particular report.
- Offer ends December 8. Get at it!
So putting everything together: If you buy $100 of Target gift cards at Kroger using the Amex Blue Cash preferred and you make sure to use all your fuel points, then you do two iterations of the Starbucks coffee offer mentioned in our previous post, your total haul across two Target trips will be: $6 credit card rewards + $14 fuel points + 2 x $10 Target gift cards + 4 x $5 Target gift cards + 2 x $5 Starbucks gift cards = $70 back on $100+ worth of purchases. And that is why we did another post! Happy shopping, friends.
