I almost never write about coupons, since they’re usually not as good of a use of my time as credit card rewards are, but here’s one I’ve made an exception for in the past. As part of its 10 days of deals promotion, Target has a deal this year where if you spend $75 on Black Friday, you get a coupon good for 20% off almost an entire shopping trip (I assume the usual exclusions will apply – gift cards, Ipads, wine and so forth) on a future visit between December 4 and December 13.
They’ve run this promotion for a couple of years and if you like to plan ahead and have sufficient storage space in your home, this is a great opportunity to save money. You can combine the coupon with savings from Redcard, Cartwheel, and manufacturer’s coupons as well.
If you’re worried about crowds, I hit Target at 8:30 am to get the coupon on Black Friday last year and it was surprisingly quiet. Last year Mrs. PFD and I filled four shopping carts and saved a $200 on things we normally buy from Target. Here’s how our van looked:
Fortunately we have ample storage space in our basement. In addition to saving the money, it’s nice to have fewer items on your shopping list for a while.
For those of you wondering what counts for the $75 spending requirement: my recollection is that gift cards will count for the $75 spend, but I’m not 100% sure about that.
I would think this coupon may be of interest to resellers as well, though I’ll defer to the judgment of experts like Tagging Miles and Big Habitat.
