One month ago I wrote that I had received the first promotion in ages for my Brooks Brothers credit card. My question was whether it was a one-off promotion or a sign of things to come, and happily it turns out to have been a sign of things to come.
The next promotion I received came about two weeks ago:
Double points on travel? That’s pretty lame. The newest offer just arrived the other day:
Twenty dollars for five purchases? Sure, I’ll go for that one!
Between the promotions and the annual bonus, this card has earned me $60 with almost zero effort in the last few months. It’s not enormous, but it’s not nothing either. I’ll take it. Given that it’s getting harder to churn credit card bonuses, it’s nice to have a diversified credit card portfolio that pays off in different ways.
And for those of you who read about the Best Buy promotion I just got: I’ll point out that both the Best Buy and the Brooks Brothers credit cards are issued by Citibank.

My Sears Citi card has been good lately. 10% cash back on up to $1000 spend back in December and currently have 10% up to $750 offer.
Hope it continues!

Very interesting, thanks for the data point!

Is this a targeted promo? I have the Brooks card but don’t think I received this offer. Or maybe I did…I get those balance transfer offers from Brooks and Sears all the time but toss them straight into the shredder. I recently saw a Sears envelope that looked slightly different and I opened it – there was an offer for $20 statement credit after spending $100. Not world beating, but hey, free $ is free $. I guess that I will look more carefully at my mail.

I assume it’s targeted, but there’s no sign-up link or anything. The promo came in the form of a large postcard, so it’s relatively hard to miss compared to the standard balance transfer offers.
