Straight from the horse’s mouth:
Sears signature holiday offer will be among the best ever offered to Sears cardholders: Shop Your Way members will earn 10 percent back in reward points on all purchases made with a Sears credit card or 3 percent back in reward points when using any other form of payment. The signature offer begins Nov. 3 and continues through Dec. 26 on the first $1,000 of each qualifying purchase at participating Sears locations and at Sears.com. Reward points expire Jan. 31, 2014.
Nice! I would imagine you can work in portal bonuses and Plink with this deal as well.
You know how you see the occasional news article mentioning the underbanked? Well I’m underSearsed. I don’t have a Sears located very close to me, I never shop online there, and I don’t know a thing about their rewards program. That said, I might be willing to apply for a credit card and make the drive for this if it’s sufficiently lucrative. I have no idea if Sears sells prepaid debit cards, and I have no idea how to tell if a given store is a “participating Sears location”.
In the meantime, I’m putting up the Bat-signal in hopes of summoning Frequent Miler for a thorough explanation.

I use Sears all the time for Portal points buying gift cards (physical cards from kmart) (plink) then liquidating going to sears store and buying pin enabled$100 gc.
I guess you could turn a minor profit 10% on $100 + plink points – GC cost. It is a hassle dealing with numerous $100 GC.

Yeah I don’t know if I would do it for GCs, a lot of hassle, but don’t forget portal too…
That’s another 10% through shopdiscover (don’t know if it will post if you use the sears card though..) or 5 Ultimate rewards per dollar… not too shabby!

Sorry, I’m just catching up on my readings! I love the bat signal 🙂
Here are some thoughts about the deal:
1. I’m not sure that Plink would work with a Sears credit card.
2. I don’t think it will work to get points when buying gift cards. I believe you’d have to buy merchandise to get the rewards.
3. 10% in points can go a long way toward reducing the loss if you are into buying and selling merchandise for profit or for points. Sears has VIP days where they offer sometimes even more than 10% to their power buyers, but this is for a longer period of time.
4. Not exciting enough for me to bite.
