Save 20% at La Quinta Hotels!

To my legions of loyal readers, I know it’s been a long time since I’ve posted, and I apologize, but I’ve been dealing with some illness in my family. Thanks for following. It’ll be a while unfortunately until I’m posting on a more consistent basis. That being said:

There are many hotels that offer discounts and perks for military members. One of the ones with the greatest discount is La Quinta Inns and Suites. If you are a military member, La Quinta offers a basic 12% discount for all stays by enrolling in La Quinta Military Rewards (Registration Page here). In addition, they offer:

  • 12% off our low Best Available Rates with your Military discount
  • “Instant” La Quinta Returns Gold status with Military recognition
  • 2,000 Bonus Points after your first stay as a Military Rewards member*
  • 20% More Points For Your Stays
  • Free Room Upgrade Certificates
  • Express Check-In … and more

I don’t stay in La Quintas often, so I wasn’t quite sure what Gold Status offered (although I was happy about the base 12% off. I’ve included the member benefits below. To be fair, most of the benefits you get just from signing up.

Ok Andy, so we’ve got 12% off, where’s the extra 8%? I thought you’d never ask! If you pay with a business credit card that is a Visa, you can enroll in Visa Savingsedge. This program is probably most famous amongst bloggers for an extra 1% off at Staples, but there are many other partners, and many of them are low-budget hotels – La Quinta is one of them. They offer 5% off just by using your credit card that’s enrolled in Savingsedge!

Now we’re at 17% – the final 3%…well, technically 2%, comes if your credit cards offers category multipliers on hotels. I use my Chase Ink Visa for a lot of my hotel stays, it gets 2% back at hotels and is enrolled in Visa Savingsedge. I know that’s only 19%, but I value Chase Ultimate Rewards at greater than 1cent/point, so I can credibly call it 20% total.
