Datapoint - 60k + $50 Credit IHG Matched to 80k (but not $50) Offer

Hi all,

Just signed up for the IHG card that offers 60k in points and a $50 statement credit after the first purchase. I'd seen that the 80k/$50 offer had been sporadically available over the past couple of months. Tried to get it via a ghost booking, etc., never got it. Decided to pull the trigger on the 60k + $50 offer and SM Chase to match the 80k + $50 offer. Got the message below in response.

TL;DR - Chase wouldn't match the 80k + $50 for a 60k + $50 signup, but would match the 80k offer (and take back the $50 credit).

The enrollment bonus you enrolled with allows you to earn
60,000 points after the first $1,000.00 in spending within
the first three months the account is open and a $50.00
statement credit after first purchase. After the
qualifying spending threshold is met, please allow six to
eight weeks for the enrollment bonus points to post to the
account.

Purchases do not include balance transfers, cash advances,
cash-like charges such as travelers checks, foreign
currency, and money orders, any checks that access your
account, overdraft advances, interest, unauthorized or
fraudulent charges, or fees of any kind, including an
annual fee, if applicable.

We would like to explain that the $50.00 statement credit
and 80,000 Reward Point offer is only available when
applying for instant credit while booking an IHG hotel
reservation online. Regrettably, we are unable to honor
your request and issue the additional points to the
account since the specific reservation path was not used
for this offer. However, if you wish to have the $50.00
statement credit re-billed to the account, we would then
be able to add the additional 20,000 reward points to
match the 80,000 reward point?s offer without a statement
credit.

Please contact us back once the spending requirement has
been met and approve the statement credit re-bill and we
will be happy to process your request at that time.

Please keep in mind that as stated in the applications
disclosure, all enrollment incentives are valid only to
first time IHG® Rewards Club Cardmembers only. Existing or
previous IHG® Rewards Club Cardmembers are not eligible.
