I wanted to share this with people. There is a real estate agent I know in town who donates 1/3 of her commission or the equivalent of 1% of the sale price of her home to the charity or association of the clients choice. On a modest $300,000 house that can be equal to $3,000. While this is not deductible for the client it still can be a lot of money given to the clients place of interest. I mention this so other people know that they also can look for agents in their area that do this. If all things being equal when comparing a real estate agent, this definitely can be a tie breaker. I honestly wish I knew the agent when we last sold and bought.
