NOT QUITE AS GOOD AS THE AMAZON DEAL, BUT…: You may be interested in some stackable promotions for Maggiano’s:
- Amex $15 off $50
- Amex $10 off $60 (According to Slickdeals, this can stack with the $15/$50 offer)
- Sign up for the Maggiano’s email list and receive $10 off your next visit
- Receive a $20 off $50 coupon plus a 1-year subscription to Food & Wine magazine when you buy a $100 gift card online.
According to this post, you can get the $20/$50 coupon in-store too, although without the magazine subscription. So you can pay $100 up front, immediately get $25 credited back, and then you’ll have $10 + $20 to apply to your meal, which makes it $75 for $135 of food. Plus if you dine in, Maggiano’s gives you an extra pasta meal to take home.
FREE SOFTWARE FOR ALLY BANK CUSTOMERS: Via Maximizing Money:
Ally Bank is offering their customers access to the anti-malware software Webroot SecureAnywhere for free to help provide online security.
Webroot SecureAnywhere provides protection against online threats to PCs and Macs, and it was named Best of the Year by PC Magazine for 2012.
Ally Bank customers can also download Webroot SecureAnywhere Mobile to your Android smartphones and tablets for free.
Not bad, but my all-time favorite free-software-for-bank-customers deal is the State Farm / TurboTax combo, wherein State Farm has offered its checking and savings account customers free TurboTax the last few years. As tax season draws near, I’m hoping that tradition continues.
AMEX MULTIPLE BROWSER MANEUVER: Frequent Miler had a great tip today about making the most of all those great Amex offers that have been popping up as of late:
I have to thank a reader named Jonathan who pointed out this approach in theFrequent Miler Laboratory. Usually, a new offer will appear under all (or most) of your Amex cards in the “Offers For You” tab. Once you add an offer to your account, though, it will disappear from the other cards. The work-around here, is simple: Open your American Express account in multiple tabs on the same browser. Within each tab, pick a different credit card and navigate to the Offers For You section. Once all browser tabs show a different credit card, but the same offer, then go one by one to each tab and click “Save Offer”.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE: Just wanted to remind everybody to keep track of your financial transactions! I bought a couple of Vanilla Reloads at CVS recently. The cashier had an issue loading one of them, so he cancelled that transaction and I retrieved another VR to ring up. When I looked at my credit card statement a few weeks leader, I noticed there were three charges, not two. Fortunately, when I went to CVS to speak to the manager, he had already noticed the discrepancy and had an envelope of cash ready to go for me. (All credit to them for handling the error superbly, by the way.)
All of which is to say, it’s easy to lose track of these things, but one simple mistake can really cut into your credit card rewards. Good record-keeping pays! And as it turns out, even half-assed record-keeping like mine is better than nothing.

Wow, thats extremely fortunate that the CVS was so on top of it. I’ve had the same issue with a gas station near me and the manager stonewalled me, insinuated I was trying to steal from him, told me to take it up with my CC issuer, etc.

I know, right? I walked into CVS ready for that kind of reaction but got the opposite.

It involves a pile of prepaid gift cards and receipts. Fortunately the ones from the problematic transaction happened to be on the top of the pile.

By us the maggiano’s $100 gc gets you a $25 bonus card good jan/feb. starting the 4th, I think.
Otherwise worked as described, got the $15 and the $10 statement credit. Except that I forgot to do the email signup thing. So, I did’t use that $10 off coupon.
