The Deal Mommy

On Evolution, Gratitude and Yearbooks

I’ve been struggling for over a week on the title of this post and decided finally to go with the three words I wanted you to remember. You see, I’m moving off of First2Board shortly but didn’t want to go silently as the move is a positive one for all involved.

While I’ll leave the inside baseball speculation to George, I do have a few thoughts at to the state of blogging in general and the point/miles niche in particular. My main takeaway after almost three years is that readers rule. I don’t think each individual reader realizes how much power he or she has, but let me repeat: you are in charge. Vote with your clicks. Vote with your support. Share content you like. Ignore content you don’t. With that in mind, I want to thank each and every one of you who have engaged with The Deal Mommy. It matters!

I have a bunch of people to thank individually:

  • Stacey: it takes an amazing amount of guts to put yourself out there. While taking a risk is stressful (as I KNOW you know), I have so much respect for what you have built.
  • Casey: for managing both the behind the scenes here and unbelievable chaos IRL. Nuff said.
  • Jamison, Elena, Bonnie, and Susan: the original F2B members. Thank you for your support and friendship.
  • The new F2B bloggers: I’m a fan of what you do and wish you the best.
  • The Speakers and Guests of FT4RL: You motivate me more than you know!
  • The Mr. Pickles: because he deserves his own line.

And now the yearbook line: Keep in Touch!  Here’s where you can find me:

I look forward to sharing many new adventures about Family Travel and Real Life with you. Please join me on the journey! Until then, safe travels.

Dia, I agree with Leslie! A classy way to do it, indeed. It’s always good to recognize those who helped you succeed.
Blogging is very challenging and these are especially difficult times. The industry is very crowded, and there is a lot of discontent going around. Ultimately, all we can do as bloggers is focus on the content.
You are right, readers are in charge. That’s how I’ve always felt too. More and more are starting to recognize that they hold all the cards, pun intended. Keep on rocking, as I’m sure you will!

I’m glad I found you here…and I hope to keep up our aquaintance in your new online home!

You’re an inspiration to travel for the right reasons and not to “keep up with the Joneses”!!

Thank you for standing up for what you believe in- and for letting others know that it is okay to travel their way…that coach is just as acceptable as first class….reminding us that we all have our own priorities. It’s okay to NOT Vendome. It is also perfectable acceptable to chose a luxury resort. What are our own priorities- follow them instead of other people’s ideas.

    Rock on, Dia!

      I’m glad you’re here, too!

Thanks for sharing the journey. You keep me going on the days when I wonder if I’m typing into the ether.

    Dear Dia,

Delighted to have found you(r writing) and wanted to let you know that I just used an RVC certificate to book a week at a resort that normally runs $220-250/night; my price (thanks to your columns/guidance) will be $550 for 7 nights!

My friends and colleagues think I’ve come into a pile of money with these trips we’re taking. In point of fact, I’ve come into a pile of good advise and counsel.

Please keep up the good work!

    Best regards,

    Lynda

Best of luck Dia! I’ve been out of town for a few days and this is my first opportunity to respond. I love your blog and feel like your approach and philosophy is very much in sync with mine. I’m so happy to see that you are moving to saverocity. I loved that place before, but now it is even better!
