On of my manifesto bullets is “experiences are worth more than possessions”. With that in mind, I get a LOT of value out of a much-overlooked credit card benefit: early access and VIP treatment at concert venues.
For instance, Deal Kid LOVES Maroon 5. His 10th birthday happens to fall just two weeks before they’re coming in concert to our area, and tickets officially go on sale Friday. BUT, thanks to Citibank, I was able to buy them this morning with a special Citi Presale with Live Nation. So we’ll be seeing Adam Levine move like Jagger from row A of the cheap seats, not row ZZZ!
Here’s another example: over Thanksgiving weekend, we went to see the Rockettes in New York City. Because Chase sponsors the Rockettes, we skipped the line wrapped around the building and used the private Chase entrance. Then, we saved 10% on our souvenirs just by using our Chase card.
Bottom line: be sure to check before buying tickets if the venue has any relationships with any of your credit cards. You might just get an extra bonus!
Please share any stories you have about concert extras with your credit cards…
