Are you thinking of getting out of town for Spring Break for two nights or more, but haven’t made any plans yet? I have a scenario for you that could also get you out of town for free this summer! It involves a bit of creativity, but I’ve laid out an example here for you to follow.
<a href="Marriott has a Megabonus deal: Stay twice between Feb 1 and April 30 and get a free night in a category 1-4 hotel. Note this says “stays”, not “nights”, so the best strategy is two one night stays. Even if you’re spending two nights in the same town, you can do what is known as “bed hopping” (it sounds more exciting it is!), staying one night in two different Marriott chain hotels. This promo is good at Marriott chain properties, so you could stay at a cheapie Fairfield inn and still get the bonus. Remember, you have to register by March 15th to qualify!
Next, go back to <a href="Marriott and book two one night stays in two separate hotels. There are literally thousands of ways to do this, but I’ll present this easy example for a weekend getaway right before Easter in Norfolk/VA Beach:
Day 1: Drive down to VA Beach and enjoy the sun (let’s hope it’s warm so you might even chance swimming in the ocean!) and boardwalk. Spend the night Oceanfront so you can enjoy the sunrise from your balcony.
Day 2. Enjoy the day at VA Beach, wear out the kids, then drive to Chesapeake. Go to Cracker Barrel for dinner, crash and burn for an early start to…
Day 3. Hit the Amazing Children’s Museum or The Mariner’s Museum or any of the other great Hampton Roads attractions, have some She Crab Soup on the James River, then drive home.
Here’s my trip report from a recent trip to Norfolk.
Spend Example:
Night 1 (April 5) Fairfield Inn VA Beach Oceanfront $146.77 (This could have been $43 cheaper, but if I’m at the beach, I’m paying for the Ocean!)
Night 2 (April 6) Courtyard Suffolk Chesapeake: $89.27
Total: $236.04
Then, you’ll get a free room from Marriott up to a Category 4 room! There are hundreds of hotels that you could use, my example is a summer weekend getaway to Hershey, PA, the sweetest place on Earth!
Free Room example:
Residence Inn Hershey PA (Category 4) July 21-22: (-$198.69)
NET COST for 1st weekend: $37.75…not too shabby!
Last year I ended up ahead on this promo as I redeemed my free night in Montreal in a room that cost over $300 a night!
Please share how you could use this great promo!
A little research may payoff allowing you to utilize Marriott’s Best Rate Guarantee! If you can beat the rate offered on Marriott’s website you can complete a simple online claim form and they will give you 25% off the LOWER rate!
Oohhh, nice add, Thanks! I should also add that Marriott is great at giving gold and platinum challenges, so if you plan your stays right you can get status as well.
