I’m not 100% sure if this is targeted or not. But I happened to get an e-mail from Citi / American with the promotion to earn 3x AAdvantage Miles spent on purchases at Department Stores, Restaurants, Gas Stations, and Grocery Stores. You can earn up to 2,500 miles, so, if I’m doing the math right, that means its good for up to $1,250 spend. Which you could probably do in a single visit to one establishment in one of the above categories. You’ve got until 30 June 2015 to do it, too, which is plenty of time. But maybe the real question is: is 3x worth it, when we’re talking about 5x for up to $1,500 spend elsewhere?

Of course, if you’re like me and have more than one Citi AAdvantage Executive Cards, you might be digging through your sock drawer for the right one, so I’m thinking this is targeted.
