Singapore / KrisFlyer Award ex-Philippines

As you may have read, the Philippines has done away with fuel surcharges (just like Brazil).

In light of that, it's been so much cheaper to book awards ex-MNL, ex-CEB and other international airports, especially on SQ and Silk Air flights. Now, Singapore plans to launch 5th freedom flights from the Philippines, which would lead to cheaper award flights to planned destinations (Osaka?) without having to route through Singapore.

That's interesting about the fuel surcharges. It can come in handy to know which countries do that for other purposes besides awards, also.

Re: fifth freedom though, as I read your article they already allow 5th freedom, and the new deal just is bumping the number up from 8 to 10. I don't think SQ has concrete plans to take advantage of that yet.
