SHOP SMALL AUGUST CARD MEMBER OFFER
TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. Limit three (3) statement credits per American Express® Card. To be eligible, Card Members must register any eligible American Express Card for this offer at americanexpress.com/ShopSmallAugust. Corporate Cards and all prepaid Card products (other than American Express Serve®) are not eligible.
2. The number of registrations is limited. Registration opens at 12:00 A.M. MST (Mountain Standard Time) on Aug 1, 2014, and will continue until 11:59 P.M. MST on Aug 31, 2014, unless the registration limit is reached sooner.
3. To receive the $5 statement credit up to three times total (once per eligible transaction), the Card Member must use his or her registered Card to spend $5 or more in a single, in-store transaction at a qualifying small business location listed in the Shop Small August Offer Directory during Aug 2014. To receive the credit, the transaction must equal $5 or more (for example, if the transaction is only for $4, the Card Member will not receive a credit). Multiple transactions of less than $5 will not qualify even if the combined total of those transactions is over $5. Card Member may purchase multiple items that together equal $5 or more, but they must be purchased in a single transaction to receive the statement credit. Online transactions do not qualify.
4. Qualifying small business locations will appear in the Shop Small August Offer Directory, available beginning on Aug 1. (Please note that business location information provided on the directory may contain inaccuracies or errors, including as a result of information provided by third parties.) Transactions with political campaigns or political action committees are not eligible, regardless of whether they appear in the offer directory.
5. If American Express does not receive information that identifies a transaction as qualifying for the offer, the transaction will not qualify for the statement credit. For example, a transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. In addition, in most cases, a statement credit will not be received if a transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party, or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it.
6. Statement credit(s) will appear on the Card Member’s billing statement within 90 days after Aug 31, 2014, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about the qualifying purchase. Note that American Express may not receive information that identifies the transaction as a qualifying transaction if the items from the purchase are not all provided during the offer period. For example, if a Card Member purchases an item that is not available or is provided after Aug 31, 2014, that transaction will not count toward determining whether the purchase qualifies for the offer.
7. Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is returned or cancelled.
8. The Card Registration Terms and Conditions will also apply at enrollment.

will be in phili for one night later this month, anyone have any quick easy ways to cashout this deal? $5 3x on 6 cards? any stores that would be okay with me doing 18 swipes for $5, hopefully that I could buy something useful. For SBS I usually buy local GC cause I know I will use it later, but I don't travel to phili often (2 hour drive). Any suggestions would be helpful. Thinking of getting a good cheesesteak from pat or maybe ginos...

I have one amex cc and two serve cards. They are all signed up, 9 $5 purchases all together. I've done five already. They were all at different eateries around philly. You can use the cards at local franchises, but not national. If with others we pay separately.

I think it was a Marathon station. I found it through the AMEX shop small site. I was in a small town, and there weren't many options.

Made my first eligible purchase last night -- half a Hoagie in St Paul. The purchase hasn't posted to Amex yet but I got the "thank you for using your eligible card" email within 1/2 hour of making the purchase.

There is a gas station near my home on the small business list. If for some reason I get to the end of August and still have $5 transactions remaining, I'll just make multiple $5 gas fillups at the pump.

I haven't really found a good place to use it, yet. Note that suburbs, at least suburbs of Houston, show participating locations. I thought I found a good gas station, but my $5.02 test charge didn't trigger the credit.

Has anyone seen the $5 credit show up on their transactions? I've used the card over ten transactions and have yet to see the $5 credit. With the synch deals, you usually see the credit appear in a couple of days.

I have three Amex cards and had six transactions before tonight (all six $5 bonuses posted promptly BTW). Tonight, I took my last Amex to a local gas station to do the final three transactions. One of my first six transactions is from this gas station, so no concerns there. Problem came when I was only allowed to do two $5.00 fill ups. The pump would not pre-approve my card for the third transaction. I suspect that this problem will clear up once the first two transactions actually post to my account; I'm sure glad that I didn't wait until 8/31 to figure this out, though!

I've been stocking up on beer at liquor & small grocery stores, various kinds of pet food at the feed store, and a few gallons of gas here and there. Thirteen swipes down and two to go... I see a cappucino + scone that handily comes to $5.35 and another bag of kitty litter in my near future.
