Rakuten is in the news a lot lately. Between various 15% cashback deals at stores like Saks 5th Avenue, and the 90-100% cashback on the LifeLock, there are some good deals. Furthermore, you can elect to earn Amex Membership Rewards points instead of cashback, at the generous rate of $0.01 per point.
However, there’s an obstacle. You have to link your Amex account to Rakuten, and for some reason, it doesn’t work on Chrome or Edge for many people including myself. Ironically, the error message says to try Chrome. Anyway, after researching online and trying different browsers, I can confirm that desktop Firefox worked for me.
If you’re new to Rakuten, you can get $40 for spending $40 in the first 3 months. Here’s my referral link. If you use it, I get $40 as well.
