MR or UR to Britsh Airwways

I'm very long on UR points (1mm) and maybe 250m MR points. Need 50,000 Avios for 6 tix from Miami to Carib.

Thinking of foregoing the 40% bonus and just use up some UR.

Am I nuts?

I think I'd still do amex? you only need about 36,000 MR to get 50,000 avios

Just seems that my balance would go a bit on MR and might make it hard to do 2 award tix, but with UR, I'd still have oodles...

Whichever you choose, keep in mind that gargantuan numbers of points can devalue in a heartbeat, so spending is wiser than saving, where miles and points are concerned.

I'd still do MR to Avios. If you are just overflowing with UR, I am sure I could find a use for them.

MR would be my choice. I can think of more uses for the UR points than the MR points. Of course it depends on what your plans are. What will you do with the MR points otherwise?

Use MR and cash out some UR at 1:1 to trim your balances.
